Yolk Dynamics in Amphibian Embryos
C. Sean Bohun, Chris Breward
Abstract
In this paper we consider the ``up righting", rotation and settling of yolk
platelets in a freshly fertilized amphibian egg. We find that the initial rotation
is consistent with solid body rotation and that our two-phase model for the
platelet motion results in settling times consistent with experiments. This
suggests that yolk motion is needed for the correct
development of embryos.
