Overview
Alexandre Grothendieck (1928-2014)
was reputed by many to be the greatest mathematician of the twentieth
century. Over the course of this memorial day, invited lecturers will
cover some of Grothendieck's major contributions to mathematics so as
to give a global picture of his unique approach, including some of the
work done after his famous rupture with university research in 1972.
A biographical presentation and a documentary film about Grothendieck's
tormented and unusual life will commemorate this legendary mathematician. |
