OVERVIEW
This one-day workshop, consisting of one mini-course and a number
of feature lecture series, focuses on the recent development of
group transforms based on the orbit functions of compact Lie groups.
It is geared towards young faculties, postdoctoral fellows, graduate
students, and practitioners in non academic research or industries.
We will introduce three new families of class functions defined
on the maximal torus of each compact simply connected Lie group
G. Each class of these function offers a variety of group transforms
similar to Fourier and cosine transforms. The orthogonality property
of these functions makes the transforms easy to compute. Theoretical,
computational and application aspects of the discrete forms of these
transforms will be primarily discussed in this workshop due to their
great potential in digital image processing. Our previous and current
work has already demonstrated the powerfulness of using these transforms
in image interpolation, compression, segmentation, edge detection
and texture identification.
