Mathematics education and promotion of mathematics have been on the agenda of the Fields Institute since its inception. The Centre for Mathematics Education (CME) is devoted to encompassing all apsects of teaching and learning mathematics, mathematics education research, and, by extension, STEM education. There is no better way to learn and appreciate what mathematics offers and to raise future mathematicians and scientists than through a modern, creative and interdisciplinary education with mathematics at its core.
Membership is composed of the multidisciplinary international faculty and researchers (including those from the Institute’s Principal Sponsoring Universities), teachers and school board members, representatives from the Ministry of Education, industry, media and the general public.
The Centre facilitates communication and collaboration between the interested individuals and groups both within Canada and globally through the promotion and organization of public and outreach events, education programs, and various scientific activities such as conferences, workshops, and seminars.
