CNTAX Housing and Hotels

1) On Campus Accommodation

The University of Waterloo offers accommodation on campus at the UW Conference Centre in Ron Eydt Village. The centre is situated on the west side of the campus, a 10 minute walk to the Arts Lecture Hall, where the conference will be held. Accommodations include single and double rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Guests also have access to the TV lounge on each floor, weight room, internet cafe and games room.
We have secured rooms at the preferred conference rate of $45.00/night Single Occupancy and $31.50/night per person Double Occupancy plus 11% tax.
A room can be reserved online and please don't forget to enter "CNTA Conference" in the Conference/Group field to ensure the preferred conference room rate. Individuals without internet access can book a room directly by phone at 519-884-5400.

Cut-off date for accepting reservations with preferred rate is June 11, 2008. After this date all reservations are taken based on availability and rate will be determined on remaining guestroom inventory.

Reservation Guarantee/Cancellation Policy:
All reservations must be guaranteed by a valid major credit card or advance
deposit, which will be supplied at the time of reservation. Guaranteed
Reservations are held for arrival until 12:00am on the day following the first night, after which the credit card will be charged for one night’s accommodation and tax. Advance deposits are refundable if notice of cancellation is received before 4pm the date of arrival. Delegates should note and retain cancellation numbers quoted to them by the Reservation Agent at the time of making the cancellation. Cancellations for individual reservations will be accepted prior to 4pm the date of arrival.

Flying to Waterloo

Region of Waterloo Int'l Airport (YKF) has regular direct flights from Detroit, Ottawa and Calgary, with connections to Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford, Kelowna, Edmonton, Regina and Saskatoon. http://www.waterlooairport.ca

By Ground from the Toronto Airport

Convenient ground transportation from Toronto Pearson Airport to Waterloo can be provided by:

Airways Transit provides shared ride door to door service between Kitchener-Waterloo and the Toronto (Pearson) and Hamilton (Munroe) airports.
ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL SERVICES.

For Toronto airport shared ride door to door transfers we have obtained a reduced conference rate of $51.00 per person, one way, tax included - see notes re: fuel surcharge below. To receive the reduced fare you must book in advance and identify yourself as CNTA 2008 delegate when making your reservation.

There is no conference rate available for Hamilton airport. Hamilton shared ride fares: 1 passenger: $76.00, 2 passengers: $109.00. All fares are in Canadian funds and are one-way, tax included.

Fuel Surcharge currently in effect - all fares shown above include the fuel surcharge in effect at the time this information was posted. The fuel surcharge is subject to change at any time and your fare will be confirmed at time of booking.
Cancellation Policy - applies to all reservations
All reservations require prepayment by credit card at time of booking. No shows are charged at full fare and cancellations made less than 12 hours prior to flight arrival or less than 12 hours prior to pick-up time will be charged at full fare.

2) Brentwood Livery Waterloo Inn Guest Preferred Rate - Limousine Service with Brentwood Livery- to and from Pearson Airport for 1 to 3ppl. For transportation to and from the airport you should make a reservation before arrival.

4) Car Rental
Renting a car is easy, cost effective, and will allow you access to the many of the interesting and beautiful places around Southern Ontario. All major car rental companies rent from the Toronto airports at competitive rates. We suggest using Expedia or Travelocity to obtain price comparisons.

Travel From Other Locations

By Car To reach the University of Waterloo by car:

  1. From Highway 401, take exit 278B (coming from London) or 278 (coming from Toronto)
  2. Follow Highway 8 West to Highway 85 North (formerly 86 North) - Waterloo
  3. Take the exit University Avenue West
  4. Follow University Avenue for 3km - campus will be on your right after the railroad tracks
  5. Distance from Highway 401 to campus is approximately 18 km.
  6. Stop at the UW entrance kiosk for parking information and directions. Visitor parking is available near the main entrance.

By Train

Waterloo is serviced by VIA Rail at the Kitchener Station. For travelers coming from the US, there is connecting service to VIA from Amtrak. From the direction of Detroit or Chicago, service is relatively direct. From the direction of New York, service goes though Toronto, and is quite indirect.

By Bus

Waterloo is serviced by Greyhound Bus Lines Kitchener Station. For travelers coming from the US, Greyhound USA offers connections to Greyhound Canada.

Local Bus

Local bus service is provided by Grand River Transit (GRT) and covers the cities of Waterloo, and Kitchener. The Charles St. Transit Terminal is near both the Greyhound and VIA stations, and provides several routes to the University of Waterloo.
