Overview

This meeting is a continuation of the successful meetings held in Kingston (Queen's) in 2004 and 2010, Ottawa (University of Ottawa) in 2005, Toronto (Fields) in 2006, Montreal (CRM) in 2007, Halifax (Dalhousie) in 2008, St. John's (Memorial University) in 2009, Thunder Bay (Lakehead University) in 2011 and Montreal (UQAM) in 2011 and Montreal (UQAM) in 2012.
The main achievement of these meetings has been the establishment of an on-going dialogue between two separated research groups who had been using different techniques to study similar mathematical problems. The two groups are algebraic combinatorialists working on the representation theory of symmetric groups, and commutative algebraists studying minimal free resolutions and inverse systems.

Program

We plan to have four invited lectures. The rest of the program is dedicated to contributed talks with lots of extra time set aside for discussions. The success of the earlier conferences was certainly dependent on the informal time in between talks by promoting further exchange and discussion. Some speaking slots will be reserved for postdocs and recent graduates.
