Distinguished Lecture Series: Panagiota Daskalopoulos
Description
Panagiota Daskalopoulos has been a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Columbia University since 2001. Her primary research interest lies in the interface of Partial Differential Equations and Differential Geometry. She earned her PhD from the University of Chicago under the supervision of Carlos Kenig (1992) and received her BS equivalent from the University of Athens, Greece (1986). She was a visiting member at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ (1992–1993). Previously she taught at the University of Minnesota (1993–95) and the University of California Irvine (1995–2001). Her honors and awards include Guggenheim Fellowship (2005–2006), Sloan Fellowship (1998–2002), Excellence in Teaching award from the University of California Irvine School of Physical Sciences (1999 and 2001), and the Distinguished Award for Research (1998) and the Faculty Career Award (1996) both from the University of California Irvine. Professor Daskalopoulos is currently the Co-Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee at MSRI and an ex-officio Trustee.
