This virtual workshop brings together a community of women researchers who work in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry, broadly interpreted. It will provide a space for women in the two research areas to get together and brainstorm about where the fields are going, to share ideas about potential future synergies between the two fields, and to start on some joint research projects, all in a supportive and relaxed environment. A particular goal is to inspire cross-fertilization across the two areas. The meeting will be held in a virtual format to be able to include participants with family care-giving responsibilities. There will also be several virtual meetings in the weeks following the initial workshop for the groups to begin working and for some more interaction with the entire set of participants. A year later, there will be a follow-up workshop with the same group to confer about the progress that the groups have made and reestablish connections between all. 

This workshop is centered around 2 themes with deep connections to both areas, namely, Gröbner bases + combinatorial algebra and free resolutions + homological algebra. 

(The organizers will hold another such workshop in early 2023 for a new group of participants, also sponsored by the Fields Institute and for which there will be an open call for applications.)
