2022-2023 Seminar on Mathematical Models and Data Science
Description
Over the last several years, there has been an increased focus on using mathematical models, data science and machine learning methods to solve a variety of problems within finance, health care, and industrial processing. While computer vision and natural language processing have been the direct beneficiaries of the advancements in machine learning, other disciplines have utilized the same research within their domains to solve their industry specific problems. For example, within our own Mathematics, Analytics, and Data Science Lab at the Fields Institute we have extended current state-of-the-art vision models to classify level of individual engagement. It is our belief that a deliberate multidisciplinary approach can be applied to address research problems in other disciplines and a sharing of ideas through engagement will be vital for further adoption of quantitative models and methods.
