Fields CFI Workshop on Quantitative Methods for Wealth Management
Description
Quantitative methods are playing an increasingly prominent role in modern wealth management. Several areas of mathematics and statistics, including stochastic control, machine learning, stochastic programming, and robust statistics have been employed both in academic research and in industry to address the goals and concerns of modern investors. This workshop will focus on recent developments in the application mathematics to decisions of portfolio allocation and design, both at the level of retail investors, as well as for large institutional investors. The goal is to bring together a diverse audience of researchers from academics and industry to share ideas and cutting edge research. Special topics will include the structure of investment strategies for retail investors, retirement planning and lifetime portfolio management, and goals-based wealth management. In addition to providing a forum for the discussion of recent research and results on applications of mathematics to wealth management, the event will raise the profile of the Fields Institute in general, and the Centre for Financial Industries in particular on the "buy side" of the financial industry.
