Two-Minute Math: A new series on YouTube
The Fields Institute is launching a new series of videos showcasing the people behind the math. Tune in to Two-Minute Math every Tuesday at noon.
Every year, thousands of amazing researchers come through our doors to learn, share, and do math. We see the marvellous diversity of mathematics and want to share that with the world. We want to give mathematicians a platform to tell their stories, talk about their work, and show their personalities.
At the Fields Institute, we’ve known since our founding that mathematicians are curious, passionate people who love the challenge of finding patterns and making connections. They work collaboratively, seeking help from others and learning from one another. Their research touches on problems with relevance to every aspect of modern life: from animal behaviour and medicine to quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and cryptography. The users of mathematics are changing the world.
All summer we’ve been sitting down with visitors to the Fields Institute and are proud to present a new video series on our YouTube channel: Two-Minute Math. Tune in every Tuesday at noon for a new answer to the question: “What does a mathematician do?” and learn more about the latest topics in mathematics.
The first video, showcasing Assistant Professor Morgan Craig’s work on improving medication by modelling the body’s blood system is available here.
