William Craig Professor Emeritus, University of California - Berkeley
November 13, 1918 - January 13, 2016
We are saddened by the news that Bill Craig passed away during the early morning of January 13, 2016, after a brief illness. He is known for the Craig Interpolation Lemma and both its mathematical and philosophical implications, as well as for his contributions to algebraic logic. He was a kind and thoughtful person who encouraged young logicians and who supported many mathematical causes, including the Fields Institute. The signature coffee mugs program at the Fields Institute is one of his initiatives, along with the analog program at the MSRI and the program of blackboard tea mugs at the Newton Institute. He is missed by his family and his many colleagues.
