Abstract:
The 4-dimensional light bulb theorem asserts that a smooth 2-sphere in $S^2 \times S^2$ that is homotopic to point $\times S^2$ and intersects a $S^2 \times $ point transversely once is smoothly isotopic to point $\times S^2$. We will discuss this theorem as well as extensions and applications.
