The unitary group of a separable infinite-dimensional C*-algebra is a Polish group which is not locally compact. I will discuss various notions of amenability for the unitary groups of C*-algebras.

Bio: Ozawa is a Japanese mathematician. He did graduate study at Texas A&M University, under supervision of Gilles Pisier. He then held a position at University of Tokyo and UCLA, until moved to Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Kyoto University in 2011. His research has largely concerned operator algebras (both C*-algebras and von Neumann algebras) and analytic group theory.
