Abstract:
The complexity is an invariant introduced by Shokurov.
This invariant can be used to detect whether a Calabi-Yau variety is toric, and whether a log canonical singularity is formally toric. In this talk, we will introduce a birational version of this invariant for Calabi-Yau pairs, and explain how it reflects in the geometry of the pair and the combinatorics of its dual complex.
