Abstract:
New Brunswick, Canada, has combined community quarantine with border closures to nearly eliminate SARS-CoV-2 in the province. While effective in the short term, neither control measure is sustainable over the long term. This raises the question of how quickly both community quarantine and border controls can be lifted and what metrics should trigger reinstatement of control measures. We explore these issues using simple generalizations of compartmental and individual-based SIR models.
