The study of the structure theory of ergodic averages requires understanding systems in relation to their subsystems. In this talk, I will explain how this relative perspective can be interpreted as the internal discourse in Boolean toposes over measure algebras, or equivalently, in Boolean-valued models of set theory. I will discuss some of the advantages of this approach.
