Abstract:
An AF algebra is naturally associated with the continued fraction algorithm. The SternBrocot numbers naturally arise as ranks of the buiding blocks. The Effros-Shen algebras are obtained as primitive quotients. We plan to discuss some of the properties of this
algebra (structure of ideals, traces, dimension group, path algebra description).
