Abstract:
The practice of Data Science in industry is distinctively different from that of Academic Research, many people do not realize or appreciate the difference. This talk is about the steps of applying Data Science to deliver business value, and the skills a Data Scientist need to have mastered to be successful in industry. The seven steps of analytics practice and six personal attributes of a Data Scientist will be discussed through examples to clarify why they matter. This information should be useful to those curious about how Data Science is used in practice, and those contemplating entering industry and wondering how to prepare for such a transition.
