Abstract:
Fields medal is awarded to recognize outstanding mathematical achievement for existing work and for promise of future achievement. I attended the opening ceremony of ICM 1990 in Kyoto where Fields medals were awarded to Drinfeld, Jones, Mori and Witten. I will review development in their fields since then.
