Abstract:
Fullerenes model pure carbon molecules, such as nanotubes and buckyballs. They are plane trivalent graphs with only hexagonal and pentagonal faces. Benzenoids, or graphene patches, are patches of hexagons that model graphene. We will provide an overview of research related to the mathematical structure and properties of these objects and will discuss parameters related to the stability of these molecules.
