Abstract:
The van Est map I will be discussing is a map relating certain kinds of geometric structures associated with Lie groups/groupoids (including representations and U(1)-extensions) to their infinitesimal counterparts. In this talk I will state an isomorphism theorem, discuss its proof, and give applications; these include results about the integration of Lie algebras, lifting group actions to torus bundles, and the quantization of constant rank Poisson structures.
