For an imaginary quadratic field, there are two natural Zp- extensions, the cyclotomic and the anti-cyclotomic. After a brief introduc- tion to cyclotomic Iwasawa theory which is more classical, we will discuss some aspects of anti-cyclotomic Iwasawa theory, both for class groups and elliptic curves.
