Abstract:
On Invariant von Neumann Subalgebra property
- Speaker: Tattwamasi Amrutam, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
- Time: 3:10pm to 3:20pm
- Abstract: Let Γ be a discrete group and L(Γ) the corresponding group von Neumann algebra. We say that Γ satisfies ISR-property if every Γ-invariant subalgebra M≤ L(Γ) is of the form L(N) for some normal subgroup N◃Γ. We show that every torsion-free hyperbolic group and a finite product of these satisfy the ISR property. This is based on a joint work with Yongle Jiang. We also discuss some recent progress on this problem.
Locally finite dimensional traces
- Speaker: Mehdi Moradi, The Fields Institute
- Time: 3:20pm to 3:30pm
- Abstract: I will present locally finite-dimensional traces as tracial analog of inner-quasidiagonal algebras then proceed to link them to quasidiagonality question for nuclear algebras.
