Abstract:
On Invariant von Neumann Subalgebra property

- Abstract: Let $\Gamma$ be a discrete group and $L(\Gamma)$ the corresponding group von Neumann algebra. We say that $\Gamma$ satisfies ISR-property if every $\Gamma$-invariant subalgebra $\mathcal{M}\le$ $L(\Gamma)$ is of the form $L(N)$ for some normal subgroup $N\triangleleft\Gamma$. We show that every torsion-free hyperbolic group and a finite product of these satisfy the ISR property. This is based on a joint work with Yongle Jiang. We also discuss some recent progress on this problem.
