Abstract:
The tempered L-packet conjecture which was proposed in my 1990 Annals paper demands that tempered L-packets for a quasi-split group over a local field have generic members. Jiang's conjecture is a generalization of this conjecture to Arthur packets, proposing what the wave front set of an A-packet should be. In the tempered setting, this is equivalent to tempered L-packets having regular wave fronts. This talk is a report on a joint work with Baiying Liu, addressing this conjecture and establishing certain cases of it for Sp(2n), using Arthur's twisted endoscopic transfer for classical groups.
