A Look Across the Panel
Today we are looking at the pressing issues in K-16 mathematics education. For example, we know that talking to students and listening to students is the best way to do assessments of mathematical thinking. We have tried to anchor today’s session around real mathematical tasks teachers use in their classrooms. A good question to ask yourself as you consider the tasks presented today: what would you ask a student, if she were sitting in front of you?
Each talk will be followed by a 20-minute deliberation period among your randomly assigned groups. To supplement the conversations on the day of the Forum, minutes of the discussion will be shared after the event.
