Abstract:
Considering a large class of AF-algebras, I will discuss how renormalization tools from dynamics yields the existence of traces on the dimension groups of these AF algebras. Time allowing, I will discuss how this is related to and has applications to the study deviations of ergodic averages for translation actions on flat surfaces as well as translation actions on tiling spaces. This is work in progress with Ian Putnam.
