MCM modules over branched covers, with applications to dimensions of stable module categories

Abstract:
This talk is based on joint work with Alex Dugas. We extend results of Knörrer and Herzog-Popescu to relate the MCM modules over a hypersurface ring and its $n$-fold branched cover. We interpret this relation in terms of approximation theory, and give an application to estimating the dimension of the stable category of MCM modules for certain hypersurfaces.
