Mathematical model for charge transport in nanofluidic problems

Abstract:
We studied the dynamics of ions in a nanofluidic device, where the dielectric effect plays important role. The shape of the ionic cloud surrounding a mobile ion near an interface is changed due to the force from the image charge, thus, the ionic mobility is significantly different from that in the region far from the interface. We developed a new mathematical model to describe the so-called relaxation force. Numerical results and analysis are present to show the performance of the model.
