Abstract:
Random multiplicative functions over the integers have gener- ated significant interest and seen many advances in recent years, partly due to interesting connections with random matrix theory and extreme values of the Riemann zeta function. Problems in the parallel setting of function fields have recently been investigated as part of the Fields Undergraduate Summer Research Programs (FUSRP) in 2020 and 2023. In this talk, I will discuss the FUSRP 2023 work on natural moments of random multiplica- tive functions over function fields, highlighting similarities, simplifications, and novelties compared to prior related results over the integers. This work is joint with Hofmann, Hoganson, Menon, and Verreault.
