Recovering algebraic features of a group $G$ from the group von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{L}(G)$ is a problem of central importance in the theory of von Neumann algebras. In my talk, I shall give new classes of examples of groups for which the semidirect product feature is remembered by the group von Neumann algebra.
