Abstract:
The Paris Climate Accord basically specifies a single policy for reducing global warming risk, namely to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But, there are significant risks to the implementation of this plan, such as pushback from citizens and ratifying legislators of the nations that agreed, as well as change of leadership in the signatory countries. The real options approach shows that it is best to manage risk with flexibility. This presentation will discuss other approaches (besides GHG reduction) to reduce or mitigate global warming and will advocate for a vigorous research agenda into other approaches.
