Research Focus
This presentation will provide an overview and research summary of a two-year project supported by OAME, OMCA, and the Ontario Ministry of Education to enhance and support teaching and learning in Grade 9 Applied Mathematics. The University of Ottawa research team worked with nine Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) across Ontario who were focused on implementing the Grade 9 Applied Mathematics curriculum in ways that best addressed student needs. The presentation will describe the various pedagogical shifts that these school-based PLCs enacted as well as the actions that the PLC took during their monthly day-long meetings. Resources and supports that the PLCs found most effective will also be shared.
