Abstract:
The author proposes that static cash flow modeling is the basic and fundamental method for valuing greenfield and brownfield mining projects and is likely to remain so. The presentation will discuss the main issues in cash flow evaluations, the selection of discount rates, and how static DCF methods and metrics both succeed and fail at delivering the "right" results. Concerns about the use of real options will be expressed.
