Speaker Bio:
After several years working in the Oil and Gas industry Kelly opted to change directions and returned to school to pursue a career in mathematics education. While studying at the University of Calgary she partnered with the Galileo Educational Network Association (GENA). It was with GENA that she first worked with teachers and professional learning communities (PLCs) and was introduced to the lesson study model. After moving to Ottawa Kelly sought an opportunity to continue working with teachers and pursued a Masters degree in mathematics education at the University of
Ottawa. It was at University of Ottawa, under the direction of Dr. Chris Suurtamm, that she became part of the OAME Grade 9 Applied Collaborative Inquiry project as a research assistant. The project also became the focus of her MA thesis.
