Survival analysis is a set of underutilized techniques that measures the time it takes for an event to occur. As the name indicates, these techniques are predominantly used to measure mortality. However, there are many applications in financial services where survival analysis can provide more information than simple classification. In this talk I will detail those use cases, compare survival analysis to more common approaches (both in intuition and methodology), and survey existing toolkits and libraries.
