Abstract:
I’ll give a very brief overview of tropical intersection theory, mostly via pictures. The theory gives a way to compute intersections of subvarieties via polyhedral geometry, provided the intersections are taking place inside an ambient algebraic torus. Time permitting, I will also outline (again, mostly via pictures) a new result joint with Griffin, Levinson, and Ramadas, in which we use tropical intersection theory to computes limits of families of algebraic cycles.
