Tutorial on p-adic numbers, Q_p and C_p, and p-adic analysis

Abstract:
A lecture designed for people who are unfamiliar with p-adic numbers and p-adic fields. The talk will cover p-adic (nonarchimedean) absolute values, the field of p-adic rationals Q_p and its algebraic extensions, and the algebraically closed and complete (but not spherically complete) p-adic field C_p.
