During this program, Martin Bendersky and Taras Panov separately asked questions about the homotopy types of specific spaces appearing in toric topology. Martin's question is to do with a comparison between a product of two 2-spheres and the connected sum of two copies of complex projective space, Taras' question is to do with the homotopy type of a connected sum of products of spheres where more than two factors are allowed in the product. This talk will respond to both questions, although the responses may or may not satisfactorily answer the questions.
