Where is the math?
Centennial College is a large and culturally diverse post-secondary institution primarily serving the eastern portion of the Greater Toronto Area. There are over 250 certificate, diploma and degree programs offered in areas of business, media, community services, engineering technology, health care and transportation, with math skills embedded in courses in most of these programs. With numeracy playing a large role in student success, the Math Drop-In Centre and other math academic support services are heavily-used by students. This presentation will give an overview of the math programming at Centennial (with sample math problems) and will present an analysis of the Math Drop-In Centre data over the last few years to answer the question, “Where do Centennial students need help in math?”
