Double Disk Dark Matter
Speaker:
Lisa Randall, Harvard University
Date and Time:

Location:
York University
Abstract:
Dr. Randall will discuss a new idea in the quest to understand dark matter, the missing mass that holds galaxies together. Some of the dark matter in our galaxy may form a “dark disk” that shadows the disk of the Milky Way where we live. The gravitational effect of a dark disk may play a role in explaining the periodicity of extinction events here on Earth.
