In this joint work with Patrik Nabelek, we present an explicit Riemann-Hilbert problem characterizing periodic solutions of the KdV equation, which is valid in the case of infinite gap initial data. Several applications will be explored, such as extensions to quasi-periodic solutions, and updated spectral characterizations of periodic potentials.
