We will discuss families of Calabi-Yau threefolds amenable to the study of arithmetic ques-
tions. These families are crepant resolutions of quotients, and with arithmetic interests in mind we will
explicitly construct these resolutions by combining two methods of partially resolving the complex three-
folds. With the time remaining we will discuss the arithmetic upshot.
