Methods and results from the classification program of C*-algebras can be used to clarify the structure of the C*-algebras which were associated to certain expansive dynamical systems by D. Ruelle and I. Putnam. I will illustrate this by considering expansive group automorphisms and/or the generalized one-dimensional solenoids introduced by R. F. Willimas and I. Yi.
