An overview of coarse median spaces

Abstract:
This will be an informal overview of the notion of a "coarse median space".
We will describe how various properties of many naturally occurring spaces can be expressed in these terms.
We will outline how it can be used in proving rank and rigidity results, and mention a few more recent results about these spaces.
