In the lecture, I will first introduce how the geographic differences in population density and population dispersal affect the basic reproduction numbers of COVID-19 transmission in China. Then I will present a spatial model to simulate the epidemic spread of COVID-19 through both contact transmissions and indirect transmission from a contaminated environment. I will then use the model to mimic the spread of COVID-19 in Heilongjiang province, China. Our model simulation fits well with the data of COVID-19 resurgence of this province.

Dr. Wendi Wang, Professor of Southwest University, Chongqing, China. He obtained his PhD from Xian Jiaotong University in 2001. He is currently the vice president of Chinese Society of Mathematical Biology. Dr. Wang has published over 100 papers in mathematical epidemiology, mathematical ecology and population dynamics, including the papers in J. Differential Equations, SIAM J. Applied Mathematics, J. Mathematical Biology and Bull. Mathematical Biology.
