Abstract:
I shall first recall the spectral approach to noncommutative geometry as formulated by Connes-Chamseddine's spectral action principle. I will highlight some models that have been extensively studied, including those that involve the Dirac operator for Robertson-Walker metrics. I will then discuss the current ongoing efforts to formulate a fully quantized theory of gravity as a summation over noncommutative geometries.
