Beyond Endoscopy is the strategy proposed by Langlands for applying the trace formula to the general principle of functoriality. It is a long term undertaking, which will probably may require the efforts of many people. We shall discuss some of the difficulties, and how they apply to the geometric terms in the trace formula.
