We revisit the description of elliptic fibrations with singular fibers of dual graph the affine Dynkin diagram of type D$_4$. We give an arithmetic characterization of "non-local matter" and introduce new G$_2$ models. We also study the resolution of singularities and intersection theory of these geometries.
