Abstract:
Topological expansion appears naturally in random matrix calculations, in particular in the multi-matrix context relevant to free probability and in particular in the real and quaternionic cases. I will discuss how quantities appearing in topological expansion connect with cumulants for finite random matrices as well as with higher-order free cumulants.
